Pretty good story of a man and a woman who marry to take care of 2 orphan girls. The hero is a man whose first wife died in childbirth. He has some very real emotional crap to get over and it isn't really glossed over, but is played out throughout the book/5.

The Man From Blue River is a touching tale about two very decent, wonderful people stuck in a situation they didn't create, although some may find the characters' sympathy and excuses for a terrible mother a bit Bowen excels in stories about deep and thoughtful characters where love triumphs even when there are no easy answers!5/5(2).

To their mother, and to the world, Lawrence was always the bad brother, Edward always the good one/5. Songs from the Blue River The poems in Songs from the Blue River seek to give voice to the land and its inhabitants, both human and non-human.
